Over the years, The Martin Luther King, Jr. Business Empowerment Center (MLKJ-BEC) has been able to exist because of support from so many generous individuals, companies, and foundations. On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff, and constituency, we thank you. Like people running for political office, fundraising is "necessary evil." We hate to ask for money, but without your support, we cannot continue to provide the free services to individuals, which better the community for all. Without economic development in the form of new businesses, jobs and the exchange of dollars for services, Worcester is not a "city on the move."

Over the last 13 years, MLKJ-BEC continually has had a multi-million dollar impact, estimated in an independent economic analysis at 17 million annually in Worcester County alone. In 2006, we have maintained that same level of impact. If you think what we do is of importance to our community, please consider assisting us in our Annual Appeal. A tax-deductible donation will go a long way towards assisting motivated individuals to successfully pursue their dreams of a better quality of life in our "All American City"

Your Donation of :

$100          Provides a personal assessment of an individual's skills to determine proper entrance into the workforce.

$250          Sends one citizen through our Culturally Sensitive Pre-Employment Training.

$500          Pays for a business plan for a start-up company

$1500         Enrolls a small business into a 9-week, highly regarded Inner   City Entrepreneurial

$2000         Covers business incubation support for 12 months (fax, copier, conference room use, free office furniture, technical and administrative assistance, utilities, and reduced office rent).

We need your help more than ever.  Since 2005’s unforeseen catastrophes (the Asian tsunami, Hurricane Katrina), philanthropic giving has become extremely competitive.  Of course, human life and emergency needs are paramount, and the public response to the immediate need was inspiring.  While we do not want to compete with these good causes, we know that, dollar for dollar, our programs efficiently serve the cause of economic justice, working to raise people from the lowest income levels and place them in sustainable careers and growing businesses.  We hope that you will be able to direct a portion of your charitable giving to us, so we can continue to fuel the economy and support the next generation of skilled workers and entrepreneurs.
